Girnar Software, the parent company of CarDekho.com, has acquired road side assistance (RSA) company Help On Wheels in an all-cash deal. Girnar Software has said in an official statement that this deal includes acqui-hiring the entire team at Help On Wheels into CarDekho.com. The founders of Help On wheels, Lalit Parmar and Nirmal Mitra will now report to its car owners business Chief Executive Ankur Agarwal.
In the press release, Agarwal mentions-
“Help On Wheels will help our road side assistance business scale faster, not only by giving us an established service network and client base, but also through the decades of experience its team brings to the table,…We will focus on creating the market for road side assistance which is a multibillion dollar market in the US and Europe. We believe it has massive potential in India where the RSA infrastructure is poor,”
According to the press release, the 2014 established venture Help On Wheels, has a client base of over 50,000 and pan-India service network of over 5,000. It goes on to state that the latest acquisition which marks its fifth in last two years, will give boost to Girnar Software’s existing roadside assistant business, which it set up a few months ago under its own brand, and which has about 8,000 customers.

“We believe that there is huge synergy between CarDekho and Help on Wheels. With our operational experience and CarDekho’s technology prowess, we intend to bring innovative products in this area. Our focus will be to scale up the business in a sustainable way by using technology to deliver great service quality at minimal costs,”
This year Cardekho has continuously been in news, the year started with securing a $15 million funding, in a round led by Google Capital and existing investor Hillhouse Capital, which resulted in the eight year-old company being valued at about $400 million.. Later in the month of March we reported about Girnar Software Pvt Ltd, announcing the appointment of Pawan Chawla as its Head – Information Technology and later the same month the appointment of Amit Monga as its Deputy Director- CarDekho Auctions business.
The company, competes with Temasek Holdings and March Capital-backed Mumbai based CarTrade.com, as well as Naspers-backed OLX and Warburg Pincus and Tiger Global-backed Quikr.
